Sunderland: Alex Smiles; 2004 – 2005 – I Learned all about waste management there, how to do it right and the pitfalls of cutting corners. I analysed waste input and potential future inputs and assessed many MRF manufacturers in UK and Europe capable of supplying a flexible mixed MRF to cope with C&D, C&I and MSW. Finally I settled of Redox Recycling (Colubris Cleantech) of Winterswijk, Netherlands.

2006, Project managed the civil engineering and installation phases, commissioning, and start-up.

2007 to 2010 Managed all aspects of running the MRF: designing the maintenance programme, maintenance planning and organisation, staff and operational training, acquisition of a mobile shredder and horizontal baler to increase production and make transportation and exporting of MRF products more desirable. In 2010 I arranged to get Alex Smiles Ltd accredited to an Anglo-Dutch trade mission to Hong Kong, PR China, and Vietnam where I signed contracts for supplying secondary plastics, cardboard and was negotiating a contract for WEEE recycling.
